2017 IRS Mileage Rates
Effective on Jan. 1, 2017, the Internal Revenue Service has decreased the standard business mileage rate to 53.5¢ per mile (from 54¢ in effect since Jan. 1, 2016). The standard medical and moving mileage rate has likewise decreased to 17¢ per mile (from 19¢).
These new rates apply to mileage reimbursements paid to an employee on or after Jan. 1, 2017 with respect to transportation expenses paid or incurred by the employee on or after Jan. 1, 2017.
The rate used for charitable deduction purposes, set by statute rather than IRS, remains at 14¢ per mile.
