First Vice-President
Nomination Process
Nominations for the office of First Vice-President shall be made by the member congregations of the Synod.
Bylaw 3.12.2
(a) Each member congregation shall be entitled to nominate from the clergy roster of the Synod two ordained ministers as candidates for President, and two ordained ministers as candidates for First Vice-President.
(b) The Secretary of the Synod shall provide a secure and verifiable method that will offer opportunity to every congregation of the Synod to submit nominations.
Nomination ballots for First Vice-President will be mailed in October 2018 to all voting congregations and may be turned in to the Secretary of the Synod’s office between October 2018 and Feb. 20, 2019. All nomination ballots must be received in the Office of the Secretary no later than Feb. 20, 2019.

Election Process
The candidates for the office of First Vice-President shall be the 20 ordained ministers receiving the highest number of votes in the nominating process. The President-elect shall select from the list of 20 nominees for the Office of First Vice-President five nominees who have consented to serve if elected, at least two of whom shall be taken from the top five nominees.
Prior to all other elections, the convention shall elect the First Vice-President. Balloting will proceed with the candidate receiving the smallest number of votes eliminated from consideration until one candidate receives a majority of the votes cast. This candidate shall then be declared elected.
