First Vice President Nomination Process
Each voting congregation of our Synod may nominate one (1) or two (2) rostered ordained ministers for the office of First Vice-President (Synod Bylaw 3.12.2). Nomination ballots for the President/First Vice-President were mailed in October 2012 to all voting congregations. The completed ballots with requested date and signatures are to be sent to the LCMS Secretary and must be received by Wednesday, February 20, 2013. First Vice-President Voting Process
Prior to all remaining elections, the national convention shall elect the First Vice-President.
(a) The President-elect shall select from the list of 20 nominees for the Office of First Vice-President five (5) nominees who have consented to serve if elected, at least two of whom shall be taken from the top five nominees.
(b) Balloting will proceed with the candidate receiving the smallest number of votes eliminated from consideration until one candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, who shall be declared elected. (2010 Handbook, Bylaw 3.12.2.4.)
