The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod
Educational opportunities for deaconesses are growing.
Women who hold an undergraduate degree in any subject may apply to the three LCMS Graduate Deaconess Programs. Prospective students are not required to attend a pre-deaconess program before entering the following deaconess training programs. Undergraduates may apply to the deaconess program at Concordia University Chicago during their sophomore year.
Some LCMS universities offer courses referred to as "pre-deaconess" in the sense that they provide an introduction to subjects that might be related to the curriculum of the three LCMS deaconess programs.
