Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Bio

Stanley and Dana Stigdon serve the Lord as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Dominican Republic. As regional business manager, Stan partners with the regional director to keep mission work running smoothly in Latin America and the Caribbean. He helps missionaries with their everyday needs of housing and transportation, and he also helps to create and run programs, projects and systems that make the organization stronger and more efficient — all in support of spreading the Gospel.

As volunteer coordinator, Dana collaborates with short-term mission teams and the local community for recruitment, placement and support of short-term volunteers. Through this work, Dana hopes to educate and inspire volunteers to become advocates, long-term supporters and servants in their own churches and communities.

Stan and Dana lived in Maryland prior to moving to the Dominican Republic. Stan grew up in the Midwest, earning a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Concordia University Chicago (CUC), River Forest, Ill., and a master’s degree in business management from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. His diverse work experience includes roles in business development and operations, high school teaching, corporate training, marketing, and as an elementary school principal. In the church, he has served as an elder, adult Bible study leader and LCMS Servant Event leader. In his free time, he enjoys engaging in DIY and home automation projects.

Dana’s family moved frequently during her childhood, spending time in Argentina, among other places. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in computer science, from CUC and Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md., respectively. Beginning her career as a computer scientist, she later transitioned to homemaker and homeschool educator before working as an administrative assistant for a pastor. In her leisure time, Dana enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, scrapbooking, Bible journaling, and taking leisurely walks. She is also a passionate coach in Visual Faith Ministry.

Pray for the Stigdons as they serve in the Dominican Republic. Ask God to give them comfort, strength and guidance in their roles and as they improve their language capabilities. Give thanks to God that the Stigdons are serving God’s people in Latin America.
