Anton Lutz

Serving the Lord in Papua New Guinea

As a missionary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), Anton Lutz has been serving in Papua New Guinea since 2004. His work in Papua New Guinea has included infrastructure development at Kaiam Airstrip (2005-2015), community mobilization and HIV education (2004-2010), hospital equipment maintenance, assisting in the Gutnius Lutheran Church conflict mediation process, and undertaking various “impossible” tasks alongside mission partners.

Anton’s extensive experience living and working in the most remote communities of Papua New Guinea gives him unparalleled opportunities to serve others with God’s love.

Anton now works with diverse partners to combat the rising tide of sorcery accusation-based violence in Papua New Guinea. Often a first responder, he provides aid and rescue to torture survivors, as well as raising awareness in some of the most remote and violent communities.

Anton grew up in Papua New Guinea where his parents were LCMS missionaries since 1986. He attended Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind., before returning to serve in Papua New Guinea.

Please pray for Anton as he serves in Papua New Guinea. Pray for health and safety and for ongoing guidance and strength as he deals with complex situations. Pray that national and local leaders will be raised up to lead Papua New Guinea and the Church forward with wisdom and courage.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of the joyful response and generosity of God’s people over the past fiscal year, not more than 10.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 13.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
