Rev. Roy and Eliza Askins

Serving in the Asia Region

Bio

Rev. Roy and Eliza Askins serve through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Asia, based in Taiwan. As the Witness & Communications Manager for the Asia region, Roy works with other LCMS personnel serving in this region to communicate the Gospel through social and other media outlets. He helps to share the story of what God is doing through LCMS personnel, partner church bodies and all believers, using print media, video, social media and the Internet. These resources are used to enlighten the church worldwide and encourage LCMS congregations and members to pray for and consider supporting those serving in this region and around the world. Roy also oversees the support and work of the LCMS “witness” missionaries serving in this region.

Roy is a native Texan and his home congregation is Faith Lutheran Church, Plano, Texas. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. Before serving in Asia, Roy served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Livingston, Texas (2010-2014). He enjoys reading, hiking and camping.

Eliza was born in Watertown, Wis., where her home congregation is Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon. Before heading overseas, Eliza taught at Emmanuel St. Michael Lutheran School, Fort Wayne, Ind. (2006-2007) and Grace Lutheran Church and School, Menomonee Falls, Wis. (2007-2008). In her free time, she enjoys reading, camping and walking. Roy and Eliza enjoy spending time with their six beautiful children – Eva Maria, Mathias, Ronan, Ezekiel, Anastasia and Cornelia.

Prayers

Pray for the Askins as they serve in Asia. Pray for Roy that as he serves, he remains faithful to God’s Word in difficult times. Pray for the LCMS personnel serving in the Asia region. Pray the hearts of people here in the United States are moved to pray for and to financially support the Askins so they can “go with” this family on their journey of faith. Let us give thanks that the Askins family is serving in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
