Carl and Karen Cecil

Serving the Lord in Germany

Bio

Carl and Karen Cecil serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as missionaries in Germany. They work with the LCMS partner church in Germany, Selbständige Evangelisch—Lutherische Kirche (SELK), to welcome the largescale awakening of Middle Eastern refugees seeking the love and hope of salvation in Jesus Christ. They assist the local pastor with Biblical, language and cultural instruction. They develop outreach activities that encourage networking and support in the hardship of suffering and persecution. Through these interactions, they seek to grow together in faith and friendship with those in their community.

Carl was born in Munich, Germany. He received his bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and his master’s degree from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School. He is a retired United States Army officer. He previously worked in sales and real estate. Carl enjoys traveling, history, sports, and gardening.

Karen was born in Clarksville, Tenn. She received a bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tenn. She worked in real estate and is a homemaker and mom to their four children. Karen’s hobbies include reading, traveling, hiking, biking and going to museums.

Carl and Karen attend Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church, Ashburn, Va. Over the years, they both have served in various ways in the community (i.e., Ethical Leadership and local outreach) and at their church (i.e., Lutheran Life Ministry and teaching).

Prayers

Pray for Carl and Karen as they serve in Germany in partnership with SELK refugee outreach. Ask God to boldly equip them as they transition to life overseas, learning German and Middle Eastern culture and languages. Pray that the Holy Spirit prepare the way through compassion of those who hunger for truth in God’s Word. As they deploy to the mission field, ask that all the details of departing America go well while keeping faithful in this unique mission opportunity. Pray for the hearts of all who will partner with the Cecil’s in prayer and financial support so they can participate in the great commission of sharing the Good News with the nations. Let’s give thanks that Carl and Karen are serving in this part of the world.
