Nichelle Dykema

Serving the Lord in Peru

Bio

Nichelle Dykema serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in Peru. In this role, she coordinates and supports long-term and short-term missionaries and mission teams coming to serve in Lima, Peru. She also covers events and mission news in Peru to maintain ongoing communication between missionaries, supporters and the community. Included in her communication responsibilities are newsletter and video creation, and social media promotion of the work being done in Peru. She also assists with other communications tasks as needed.

Nichelle’s hometown is New Plymouth, Idaho, where her home congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church is located. She received an associate’s degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (online division) and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Boise State University, Boise, Idaho. Before serving in Peru, Nichelle worked as a marketing coordinator, graphic designer, home stager and interior designer. In 2016, she participated on a short-term mission team to Nicaragua. Her hobbies include reading, painting, kayaking, hiking, traveling, weight lifting and running.

Prayers

Pray for Nichelle as she serves in Peru. Ask God to provide her with a swift and smooth time of support-raising. Pray God gives Nichelle strength and peace as she moves to Peru and transitions to serving and living overseas, adapting to a new culture and language. Pray for the current mercy work and church planting happening in Lima as the LCMS missionaries serving there continue to expand ahead of her arrival. Pray that the Holy Spirit works through God’s Word to draw missionaries, supporters, community members and churches closer together as the available communication avenues are used to keep everyone in constant contact as brother and sisters in Christ. Let us give thanks that Nichelle is serving God’s children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
