Focus: International Witness

LCMS partners serve in their own alphabet soup variety of vocations, from global missions to health benefits, from investments and loans to liberal arts education, from partner church bodies to the Synod’s archives.

Bringing Christ to people around the world

More than 120 years ago, the Missouri Synod sent its first missionaries to India, and our church has been active in international witness ever since.

Though our witness and message are the same, much has certainly changed since then, and the 21st century brings even more new opportunities and challenges as we continue our international witness by the power of the Holy Spirit:

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

As the LCMS focuses on international witness, we thank God for our partnerships with brothers and sisters around the world in carrying Christ’s rich gifts to the ends of the earth!

Join us in lifting up international witness this month. To help you do so, we have put together information and worship resources, including bulletin inserts, prayers, Scripture references and more for your use.

Remember, kind Father, all those who are training to be pastors or missionaries in Your Church. Equip them with the wisdom of Your word and teach them to rely solely on You and Your promises. Remove from all servants of the Word any trust in mere human wisdom or strength, that You alone may be exalted through their service. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who is the Wisdom of God. Amen.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent. Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 13.5 percent of a charitable contribution may be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
