Rev. Brian and Amanda Gauthier

Serving the Lord in Panamá

Rev. Brian and Amanda Gauthier serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as missionaries in Panamá. Brian coordinates all theological education in Panamá in conjunction with Luther Academy and Concordia Seminary & Mercy Center in Palmar Arriba, Dominican Republic. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the seminary. Brian facilitates and mentors seminarians in their classes and fieldwork. He recruits and prepares young men for pastoral formation at the seminary as well. In addition, Brian preaches, teaches and baptizes in the various congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Panamá (IELPA) and works with Panamanian pastors to plant new churches in the province of Colón.

Brian was born at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He earned a bachelor’s degree in pre-seminary studies, theological languages and missions from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he is currently working on a doctorate degree in doctrinal theology. Previously, Brian served as an associate pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Stuart, Fla., and as an online theology instructor with Orange Lutheran High School, Orange, Calif.

Amanda was born in Wichita, Kan. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon. She received her teaching credentials and a master’s degree in curriculum instruction and education from Vanguard University, Costa Mesa, Calif. Amanda served as a fifth-grade teacher at Morningside Elementary School, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and as a middle-school science teacher and cross-country coach at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Stuart, Fla. Brian and Amanda have one child, Ezra, who joins them on the mission field.

Pray for the Gauthiers as they serve in Panamá. Ask the Lord to protect them as they travel throughout Panamá teaching and working with congregations. Pray they are strengthened as well as they continue to adapt to life in a new culture. Ask the Holy Spirit to sustain them in faith and keep them faithful in their work. Pray for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Panamá as they continue to faithfully minister to the Panamanian people through the proclamation of the Gospel and the administration of sacraments.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose.
