Josh and Yang Wei (Coco) Lange

Serving in Asia

Bio

Josh and Coco Lange serve through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Asia and are based in Shanghai. Josh serves as director of operations for Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation (CWEF), a Hong Kong-based nonprofit organization that reaches out to people living in material poverty in China and Cambodia. He supports CWEF’s local staff members in those places, who carry out education and health programs designed to reduce poverty and improve lives. Previously, Josh served as the Shanghai service coordinator with CWEF and as the communication specialist for the LCMS’ Asia region, based out of Hong Kong.

Josh grew up in Jefferson City, Mo., where his home congregation is Faith Lutheran Church. He attended high school at Saint Paul Lutheran High in Concordia, Mo., and graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a marketing degree. He worked for a marketing agency in St. Louis, Mo., before moving to Hong Kong in 2008 to begin his service with the LCMS. Coco was born in Yangzhou, China. After graduating from Nanjing University, China, she earned a master’s degree in international business from Birmingham University, England, before returning to Shanghai and gaining experience in the world of media, nonprofit and the arts.

Prayers

Please pray for Josh and Coco as they serve in Asia. Pray they are given wisdom with every step they take as they complete the work given to them. Pray for their continued good spiritual and physical health, growth and protection. Pray they are both given opportunities to share love with and minister, in word and deed, to their friends, family members, coworkers, local partners and CWEF program participants. Pray these individuals’ lives are changed as this love and compassion are shared with them. Let us give thanks that Josh and Coco are serving in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
