Messengers Giving Club

The Bible is filled with people who served as God’s messengers to His people – prophets, apostles, evangelists. With one exception, they were all much less important than the message they delivered. That one exception, of course, is the Messenger Who is also God’s ultimate Message to the world Himself – Jesus Christ. He and His message are one in the same: "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die" (John 11:25-26, ESV).

Today, I invite you to join me as a messenger – not only a messenger that communicates in word and deed the great news of Jesus Christ, but also a member of the Messengers Giving Society in The LCMS Joint Seminary Fund.

Whether you choose to become a member of the Messengers Giving Society or not, I thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the preparation of those who will share the message of joy, peace, and forgiveness through Jesus Christ for many years to come!

With gratitude for your service,

Mark D. Hofman, Director

Why become a Messenger?
Why should I become a Messenger?
Men prepared on the campuses of Concordia Seminary-Saint Louis and Concordia Theological Seminary-Fort Wayne are sent into the mission field near and far to proclaim the Gospel and the truth that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world! It is because of this Gospel that The LCMS Joint Seminary Messengers Giving Society continues to press forward with great zeal to increase support of our LCMS Seminaries.

The LCMS Joint Seminary Messengers Giving Society offers you a special opportunity to join a devoted circle of Christian friends who participate in a very vital and personal way.

As a member of The LCMS Joint Seminary Messengers Giving Society you are invited to make a prayerful, financial commitment for one year. Your special gift helps us press forward and accelerate toward our goal —

  • By providing a steady supply of support that will sustain our seminaries and make pastoral education more affordable for our seminarians!
  • By building and sustaining an exceptional standard of pastoral education within The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of the joyful response and generosity of God’s people over the past fiscal year, not more than 10.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 13.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
