Rev. Mark and Susan (Sue) Moss,

Serving the Lord in Sierra Leone

Rev. Mark and Susan (Sue) MossRev. Mark and Susan (Sue) Moss serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as career missionaries in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Mark works closely with the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church-Sierra Leone (CELC-SL), the national church body in this country, to plant churches among the Limba people group and other northern groups. Limba is the third most-spoken language in Sierra Leone. Currently there is no Lutheran church presence among this language group.

Mark was raised in Bloomington, Minn., where his home congregation is Mount Hope Lutheran Church. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University, St. Paul, in Minnesota. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. Before serving in Africa, Mark worked with Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT) for five years, serving three of those five years in Sierra Leone, West Africa where he helped with the Limba Language Project in northern Sierra Leone. He then served as an LCMS chaplain in the United States Army for 20 years and through two combat tours in Iraq. In his free time, Mark enjoys reading, bike riding and traveling.

Susan was born in Maplewood, Minn. Her home congregation is also Mount Hope Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Minn. She served with Mark in Sierra Leone, West Africa, through Lutheran Bible Translators. In her free time, Susan enjoys bike riding, quilting, knitting and traveling. The Mosses have four adult children — Jeremiah, Jonathan (wife Jennifer), Marie (married to Graig Lumives) and Nathan (wife Rebecca). They also have two grandchildren, Kaylee and Ethan.

Pray for Mark and Susan as they serve in Africa. Pray that they are used daily to effectively partner with the local church bodies to care for and walk alongside the people in Sierra Leone. Pray that God’s Kingdom will move forcefully and the Gospel may effectively take captive the hearts and minds of the Limba people and others in Sierra Leone. Ask God to fill Mark and Susan with wisdom and peace as they serve. Pray also for the hearts of all who will partner with the Mosses in prayer and financial support so they can “go with” this family on their journey of faith. Let’s give thanks that the Mosses are serving in this part of the world.
