Cindy Pine

Serving the Lord in the Latin America and Caribbean Region

Cindy Pine serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Latin America and Caribbean region, based in the Dominican Republic. As this region’s associate business manager, Cindy works closely with the business manager and the regional director of the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region, to manage the financial and business affairs of the LCMS in this part of the world. She also supports the LCMS missionaries serving in this region and works with local church partners on various projects.

Cindy joined the LAC mission team after six years of doing mission work with MOST (Mission Opportunities Short Term) ministries in Ann Arbor, Mich. She has led many teams in Latin America and in Africa, providing medical clinics, vocational training, refurbished eyeglasses, water purification units and construction assistance. Cindy served with the USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) Mission in Honduras as well. In her congregation in Ann Arbor, Mich., she was chairperson of the Board of Administration (facilities and personnel) and treasurer.

Cindy's interest in the languages and cultures of Latin America comes naturally. She is fluent in Spanish as a result of lifelong study in the United States, Central America and Mexico. Both of her grandfathers had careers in this part of the world - one in Chile and one in Mexico. Cindy earned both her bachelor's degree in Latin American studies and her master's degree in anthropology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Cindy was raised by church musicians in Lawrence, Kan. A 40-year transplant to Michigan, she loves spending time with her three children - two in Michigan and one in Maine - and four grandchildren. She enjoys sewing, bicycling, reading, golfing and choir singing.

Pray for Cindy has she serves in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Ask God to give her strength in supporting the missionaries who are serving in this region. Pray for her to have joy as she spreads the Gospel to those individuals she interacts with in the Dominican Republic and in this region. Pray for God's protection over her as she travels. Let us give thanks that Cindy is serving God's people in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.
