Rev. Todd and Kim Roeske,
Serving the Lord in the Philippines

Rev. Todd and Kim Roeske and their childrenRev. Todd and Kim Roeske have served the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Philippines since 1993. Todd is a mission consultant and prepares leaders to be God-dependent as they lead the Tagakaulo Lutheran Church of Christ in the Philippines. The Lord has blessed this strategy and Todd is now a non-resident missionary among the Tagakaulo people. In other words, he visits the Tagakaulo church two times a year to encourage them and provide training, but the daily operation of the church is in control of the Holy Spirit through locally-trained Tagakaulo pastors. Todd also translates and edits a Tagakaulo-language newsletter for the Tagakaulo church and helps them prepare Tagakaulo-language materials for use in their churches. He also works with the LCMS on missionary work being done in other Asian countries.

Todd grew up in Hartland, Mich. He received a bachelor's degree from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich., and a master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 2006, Todd became an ordained LCMS pastor through the colloquy program. Todd has also served in Taiwan, East Africa and Texas. When Todd is not serving in the Philippines, he serves as the coordinator of ministries with Alaska Mission for Christ and the pastor at Mt. Drum Lutheran Church, Copper Center, Alaska.

Todd’s wife, Kim, serves with him, both in the Philippines and in Alaska. She grew up near Hoagland, Ind. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich. She taught upper elementary grades in Taiwan and Detroit and Bay City, Mich. Kim developed a Sunday school program and curriculum for the Tagakaulo churches.

The Roeskes ask for prayers for the Tagakaulo Church as it continues to mature. Pray the leaders continue to grow in faith, love and knowledge. Pray the congregations lovingly support their pastors in ways that are appropriate to the Tagakaulo context. Pray that the Tagakaulo Church finds its place in the body of Christ as they reach out with the Gospel to the Tagakaulo people and those beyond their borders. Let us give thanks to God that the Roeskes are serving in these parts of the world.

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
