Rev. Andrew and Kelsey Schlund

Serving the Lord in Mexico

Rev. Andrew and Kelsey Schlund serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Mexico. Andrew currently serves as a pastor at La Iglesia Luterana del Buen Pastor (Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd). He also works with other missionaries in the theological education of existing pastors and possible future pastors. Through the relationships that are formed, Andrew and Kelsey seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the people of Mexico.

Andrew was born in Janesville, Wis., and grew up in Delevan, Wis., and Ravenna, Neb. His home congregation is Peace Lutheran Church, Great Falls, Mont. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Concordia University, Nebraska, Seward, and his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Andrew enjoys reading, playing board games, doing puzzles and walking with his family in the park.

Kelsey was born in St. Charles, Mo., where her home congregation, Immanuel Lutheran Church, is located. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and secondary education from Concordia University, Nebraska, Seward, and a master’s degree in chemistry from Saint Louis University. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, going for walks and photography. Andrew and Kelsey have two beautiful daughters, Charlotte and Margaret, who join them on the mission field. Charlotte enjoys coloring, playgrounds and bubbles, and Margaret enjoys watching and learning from her big sister.

Pray for the Schlunds as they serve in Mexico City and continue to learn the culture and language. Pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has free reign through the LCMS missionaries serving in Mexico. Ask the Lord of the Harvest to call more workers from Mexico to spread the Gospel in their country. Pray the hearts of people here in the United States are moved to pray for and to financially support the Schlunds so they can “go with” this family on their journey of faith. Let us give thanks to God that the Schlunds are serving in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent. Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 13.5 percent of a charitable contribution may be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
