Richard and Sarah Sovitzky

Serving in the Asia region

Richard and Sarah Sovitzky serve on behalf of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Asia region. As the Asia region’s business manager, Richard works closely with the Asia regional director to manage the financial and business affairs of the LCMS in this part of the world. More specifically, Richard’s duties include supporting all LCMS personnel serving in this region and working with local church partners on long-term mission projects.

Richard was born in West Allis, Wis. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before serving in Asia, he was a partner at Chortek, LLP, an accounting and information technology consulting firm based in the greater Milwaukee, Wis., area. Richard enjoys distance running, cross country skiing, windsurfing, traveling, reading and live theater.

Sarah was born in Kenosha, Wis. She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before heading to Asia, she worked in speech language pathology and also homeschooled her children. Sarah’s hobbies include reading, dancing, live theater and the Irish whistle. Richard and Sarah love spending time with their eight beautiful children – Isabel, Richard, Nathanael, Ronan, Ulrich, Donovan, Rhiannon and Elspeth.

Pray for the Sovitzky family as they serve in the Asia region. Pray they are given strength and peace so they may effectively and with joy do the work created for them to do. Pray also that the hearts of people here in the United States are moved to pray for and to financially support this family so they can “go with” them on this journey. Let us give thanks that the Sovitzky family is serving in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent. Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 13.5 percent of a charitable contribution may be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
