Richard and Sarah Sovitzky,
Serving the Lord in the Eurasia region

Richard and Sarah Sovitzky and their childrenRichard and Sarah Sovitzky serve the Lord as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Eurasia region, based out of the Czech Republic. As the Eurasia region’s business manager, Richard works closely with the Eurasia regional director to manage the financial and business affairs of the LCMS in this part of the world. More specifically, Richard’s duties include supporting all LCMS missionaries serving in this region and working with local church partners on long-term mission projects.

Richard was born in West Allis, Wis., and Luther Memorial Chapel, Shorewood, Wis., is his home congregation. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before becoming a missionary, he was a partner at Chortek, LLP, an accounting and information technology consulting firm based in the greater Milwaukee, Wis., area. In his free time, Richard enjoys distance running, cross country skiing, windsurfing, traveling, reading and live theater.

Sarah was born in Kenosha, Wis., and her home congregation is also Luther Memorial Chapel, Shorewood. She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before heading to the mission field, she worked in speech language pathology and also homeschooled her children. Sarah’s hobbies include reading, dancing, live theater and the Irish whistle. Richard and Sarah have eight beautiful children – Isabel, Richard, Nathanael, Ronan, Ulrich, Donovan, Rhiannon and Elspeth – who join them on the mission field.

Please pray for the Sovitzkys as they move to the Czech Republic and serve in the Eurasia region. Pray God gives them strength and peace as they transition to life overseas, learning the culture and the language so they may effectively communicate the Gospel. Ask God to provide a smooth transition for the children in particular. Please also pray the hearts of people here in the United States are moved through the power of the Holy Spirit to pray for and to financially support the Sovitzkys so they can “go with” this family on this journey of faith. Let us thank God that Richard, Sarah and their family are serving in this part of the world.
