“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2:15

Dear fellow student of God’s Word and servant in His kingdom,

Thank you for your interest in the Circuit Winkel Bible Studies which have been made available through the Office of First Vice-President, and this website, for well over ten years.

With the transition in the Office of First Vice-President, we are taking a one-year hiatus to evaluate the program, reassess priorities, gauge interest and consider new approaches toward the goal of encouraging and supporting quality theological study and discussion among the brothers in the LCMS ministerium, and especially in our circuit conferences.

To help us in this re-evaluation, we would greatly appreciate hearing from you! (Please email karen.dowbnia@lcms.org.)

    • To what district and circuit do you belong?
    • How long has your circuit used these Bible studies?
    • Has your circuit generally used these studies throughout the “Winkel year”?
    • How many other circuits are you aware of, in your district, that also use these studies?
    • What suggestions do you have for improvement?
    • What topics would you like to see covered?

Lastly, during this hiatus, we are making available on this website the previously-produced studies from 2014–2019. We hope that one of these may be of use to you during this year.

Thank you again for your interest and understanding. God’s richest blessings on your growth in His Word.

In Christ,
Rev. Peter K. Lange
First Vice-President
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
