Courtney Zalmanoff

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Courtney Zalmanoff serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in the Dominican Republic, based in Santiago. As an assistant volunteer coordinator, she works closely with the volunteer coordinator for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. She supports short-term mission teams who serve in countries within this region by organizing the logistics of their travel, food, transportation and lodging. Courtney also helps communicate a larger awareness of the needs of the LAC mission fields with individuals and congregations in the attempt to open doors for additional short-term mission opportunities.

Courtney’s hometown is St. Charles, Mo., and her home congregation is Immanuel Lutheran Church, Olivette, Mo. She received bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and psychology from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo. During the fall 2018, she studied abroad at Universidad de Burgos, Burgos, Spain. She has participated in several domestic mission trips over the years. Courtney enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, traveling, reading and baking.

Pray for Courtney as she serves in the Dominican Republic and in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Pray for God’s guidance and faithfulness in her endeavors. Ask God to give her patience, adaptability and peace as she transitions to life in a new country with a new vocation. Pray that God enables her to effectively establish relationships with church communities in the LAC region. Ask God to guide short-term teams to step up to enthusiastically serve alongside this region’s missionaries. Let us give thanks to God that Courtney is serving His children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of the joyful response and generosity of God’s people over the past fiscal year, not more than 10.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 13.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
