Shara Cunningham,
Serving the Lord in Kenya

Bio

Shara Cunningham is a missionary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in Kenya, East Africa, where she serves as the mission support coordinator. She works with LCMS staff and partner churches to identify needs for GEO missionaries and short-term teams in East African countries and helps to place new missionaries where they are most needed. Shara also supports the volunteer coordinators serving in other locations throughout Africa by helping to plan opportunities to discuss roles, challenges and ideas. At times, Shara also accompanies short-term teams or GEO missionaries to help orient them to the mission field and provide other leadership as necessary. (GEO missionaries serve for one- to two-year terms in various roles.) Before moving to Kenya, Shara served with the LCMS for two years in South Africa.

Shara was born in St. Vincent, in the West Indies, and graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She has previously served on short-term mission trips to Uganda, Rwanda, Mexico, Peru and South Africa. Shara’s home congregation is Christ Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Ariz. She enjoys going to the movies, reading and working with kids.

Prayers

Please pray for Shara as she serves in Kenya. Pray for God to protect her as she travels and that she would be able to communicate clearly with the local people. Ask the Lord to keep Shara in good health, so that she may serve to her fullest capacity. Finally, thank the Lord that Shara has answered His call to serve in Kenya!
