Bio

Matt and Kim Myers

Matt provides leadership for and manages the Concordia English Center in Macau, a special administrative region of China. He provides English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) expertise and consulting for area-wide EFL ministry. In personal life and work, Matt and Kim model thankfulness to God for Jesus’ saving work through personal trust in God and through a God-given love for other people. As Matt manages the Concordia English Center in Macau, he provides ongoing EFL training for missionaries in Macau and other nearby locations, as well as exploring the expansion of more EFL centers and ministries. The Myers previously served with LCMS World Mission in Vietnam from 1998 to 2006 and at the Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia from 2006 to 2009.

Matt is a director of Christian outreach (DCO) from Baltimore, Md., where the Myers’ home congregation is Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He has a master’s degree in leadership in teaching, and a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. His hobby is playing the guitar. Kim is from Tampa, Fla., and holds a master’s degree in applied linguistics and a bachelor’s degree in English. She enjoys reading. The Myers have two children, John Mark and Emily.

The Myers write, “Please pray for our strength to teach well, encourage our team, and to share the Gospel. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will open the hearts and minds of the people in Macau—that they might follow and trust Him. Please pray for our relationship with our national co-workers, that they will be encouraged by our presence and that we will successfully work together to further God's kingdom. Please also prayerfully consider how you might be involved, through visits, service, and financial support of our work.”
