The coming year will be one of tremendous progress for our initiatives across the country. In College Hill, our Nazareth Homes development will kick into full gear. After completing the first two model homes for the initiative last year, we now are poised to begin large scale construction with the help of a $2 million capital campaign. In January, we received a $150,000 grant to purchase and clear nine lots of vacant housing in preparation for potential new Nazareth Homes to be built on those sites.
In Fort Wayne, our church partners are moving forward with a three neighborhood home repair initiative which will help up to ten low-income and/or elderly families in that community. We continue to raise support for this project, and I encourage you to read more about it in this newsletter.
Also on the home repair front, we are launching another round of home rehabs in College Hill to accompany the new construction we are undertaking in that community. If all of the required funds can be raised for that project, we will be able to serve more than 30 residents who are in desperate need of home repairs. We have already been blessed with more than $100,000 in grant support – which will help us to serve at least a third of our target households.
