Carl and Deborah Rockrohr - The Lutheran Church

Bio

Rev. Carl and Deaconess Deborah Rockrohr serve the Lord through LCMS World Mission in South Africa. Carl teaches at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Pretoria and also assists the rector with administrative tasks of the seminary. Additionally, he assists the bishop of the Lutheran Church of Southern Africa (LCSA), an LCMS partner/sister church, with various tasks as needed. Deborah is developing the new deaconess training program at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Pretoria and teaches diaconal classes while serving as the director of this new program.

Carl grew up in Milwaukee, Wis., where his father served as pastor of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Deborah grew up in southern Illinois and southeast Missouri, graduating from St. Paul Lutheran High School and Junior College in Concordia, Mo. Carl earned a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University Wisconsin, and a Master of Divinity, a Master of Sacred Theology and a Ph.D. from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. Deborah earned her deaconess degree from Concordia University Chicago and a Master of Arts in religion from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Carl has experience as a parish pastor in Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin and a religion professor in Wisconsin and Michigan. As a deaconess, Deborah has worked in parish, chaplaincy and university settings. The Rockrohrs have four children: Paul, Jim and Becky, who reside in the U.S., and Ted, who lives with Carl and Deborah in South Africa.

Prayers

Please pray for Carl and Deborah as they serve in South Africa. Pray that God would provide them with many faithful prayer and financial supporters in the United States. Pray that their son, Ted, would adjust well to attending school in South Africa, and for Paul, Jim and Becky, as they continue college and graduate studies in the U.S., while adjusting to having parents and a brother far away. Pray that the Lord would bless the Lutheran Theological Seminary and its supporting churches, with His wisdom for planning and goals. Ask the Lord to grant strength and wisdom to the current seminary students. Finally, pray that the Lord would bring to the seminary those students who He wants to be trained as pastors and deaconesses.
